Ride 4 Rangers
As COVID-19 started to take a grip on our planet and the travel trade were busily staying safe at home as were all their customers. A group of like-minded individuals from the African Travel sector grouped together to form a charitable organisation called RIDE4RANGERS. The idea was to ride/walk/run the circumference of Africa virtually at home or outside and get sponsorship, raising money to protect National Parks across Africa from poaching. Tusk.org raises money for just this purpose, so we partnered with them to combine our fundraising efforts with all funds being match-funded by a generous donor.
People joined the initiative from all over the world and the team were bowled over by the enthusiasm of this fundraising effort. A few members of our core committee decided to ride the length of the United Kingdom and in August 2020 successfully managed to complete these impressive challenge. Safe to say, our all fundraisers easily virtually circumnavigated Africa - we think we managed all the way around the world in the end!
Green Travel Marketing were able to support this fantastic initiative and we were thrilled to do so - it meeting all our passions in one place. Through communications, website, videos, media and press efforts working with our fantastic colleagues in the African Travel Industry and joining the Lands End to John O Groats team at the top of England and riding the length of Scotland, we helped the organisation raise over £300,000 to support Tusk and their incredible work.
We worked with our colleagues from the industry to get coverage of the LEJOG (Lands End to John O Groats), to gain sponsorship from Land Rover who donated the new Defender to be the support vehicle for the trip and also sponsorship from Ethiopian Airways.
