ENVIRONMENT

We have forgotten how to be good guests, how to walk lightly on the earth as its other creatures do

ENVIRONMENT

Using tourism investment to fund best practice in environmental protection and low impact, sustainable travel.

Now more than ever we are all acutely aware that our natural resources are finite. In the west we are finally catching up to the issues around fossil fuels, plastic pollution and the damages caused by chemicals.

Africa, in many ways, has been at the forefront of dynamic environmental practice for many years. Solar, wind power, up-cycling, organic farms have been common-place across Africa. With Western tourism pressures, comes a striving for increased levels of comfort and luxury which can often conflict with environmentally-sensitive tourism.

At GTM, we therefore want to support our clients as they forge forwards developing and maintaining best practice in how they operate both in the experiences they offer and the impact they make. Using solar electricity instead of fossil fuelled generators, rainwater collection / water management, compost toilets are a handful of some of the fantastic procedures which some of our clients have put in place. Where these are missing, we work hard to link in our connections around the world to provide expert advice in helping our clients reduce their impact. We believe that the eco-story and the preservation which comes with these changes contributes to the journey and their experiences of the guests and paves the way for them to spread the positive word to others.
